I grew up in Stanley, Virginia and started playing golf at age 14 on the high school team. I played most of the first year with a hickory set of clubs that included two MacGregor spoons, a MacGregor driving iron, mashie and mashie niblick, Bakspin mashie (maker unknown) and a Robroy putter. The last 36 years have been spent working in various positions in the pricing and marketing department for Southern Railway and Norfolk Southern Corp in Washington, DC, Roanoke, VA and Norfolk, VA and currently live in Virginia Beach. I discovered hickory golf was still being played through the internet and joined the VaHGA in the spring of 2014.

I currently play with mostly replicas with some additions from the clubs I used during my first year of playing. I had a few of them repaired and currently carry two in my bag. I’ve collected some more originals and at sometime in the future may look to put together an original play set.
